With the fast development of its aviation industry, China has become an important market for Diamond Aircraft. 
After more than 50 airplanes sold to the Chinese market, mainly for training of future airline pilots, Diamond Aircraft decided to take the next step in the fast growing Chinese general aviation market and founded in 2005 together with Chinese partners the joint venture Shandong Bin Ao Aircraft Industries Co., Ltd.


The production facility is located at Binzhou Dagao airport in the province Shandong in China about 350 km southeast of Beijing. The 30,000 m² production facility has a production capacity up to 500 airplanes per year.

Shandong Bin Ao Aircraft Industries Co., Ltd is manufacturing the DA40 TDI with high sophisticated Garmin glass cockpit and diesel engine for the Chinese market and other selected Asian countries. It is the worldwide first Joint Venture aircraft production in the General Aviation with a production approval under the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in cooperation with the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC).

More than 100 Chinese personnel have been trained in all aspects of production, quality assurance, inspection and testing of the DA40 TDI aircraft at both Diamond Aircraft manufacturing facilities in Austria and Canada.
 Together with experts from Diamond Austria and Canada Shandong Bin Ao now employs more than 200 people.
